Daily Proverb - Proverbs,
Chapter 12
"Whoever loves discipline
loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid"
"The Lord detests lying
lips, but he delights in men who are truthful"
This chapter has 28 verses
that are packed with wisdom for daily living! If you look at the first verse you
can see how it starts "Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge". It goes
on to make a contrast, we see the opposite starting at the word "but". This word
is like a divider showing us the end of one principle and the danger in not
observing it "but he who hates correction is stupid". If you are someone
who has no desire to learn, you think you are all of that and more, you are
certain that your ways are the best ways and therefore you do not seek new
ways....this verse just paid you an insult, or did it. Well, if you are
all the above, the verse is calling you stupid. Now this Proverb is
either right or wrong and I think it is right on! If you love discipline,
you love knowledge because knowledge can keep you from falling. As you
gain knowledge, real knowledge that is, truth, you start to see that you are not
so great after all, and if you are humble and willing, you will be corrected.
But if you are not willing, you will not be corrected and you will
continue on your road to destruction, stupid! Its not an
insult, it is simply the truth!
Now as you go forth and
study chapter 12, you will see that each verse gives you a principle for living
and the contrast to that principle. I love each one and especially love verse
24. Isn't it good to know that God does not lie and detests lying lips!
It is also good to note that God delights in men who are truthful.
I'm looking forward to
tomorrow, chapter 13!
