Daily Proverb - Proverbs,
Chapter 19
"It is not good to have
zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way."
A few years ago I purchased
a new gas grill. My wife and I began the task of putting it together.
I have a mans understanding of mechanics and always bring the right tools for
the task. My wife is one of those slow people who insist on reading the
instructions, before starting the hands-on approach that I so greatly enjoy.
I always keep the front of the box pointed at me because if I can see the
picture, I can see the goal, so why bother reading instructions. If you do
these little projects the way I have just described, you know where this is
leading. I ALWAYS need her directions for getting the job done properly!
You see, even though I have zeal, without knowledge I will get frustrated and
sometimes even want to just quit! We all too often lead our daily lives
that way. We don't like to take the time to read the instructions. I
think that is part of the reason for this web site. I am sad for people
who do everything the way I do a new gas grill. The good news is, I am
thankful to God for giving me, at least enough wisdom, to listen to my wife when
she sees that I need her help. I think that attitude will get me the
knowledge I need, and may even keep me from becoming frustrated. Zeal and
knowledge will bring great accomplishments, get knowledge and be all the more
zealous for good things!
"He who obeys
instructions guards his life, but he who is contemptuous of his ways will die"
Wow, think about that "He
who obeys instructions guards his life" ! That's a big statement isn't it?
Obeying instructions for life, a willingness to be corrected, an understanding
that you have NOT arrived and still need to guard your life. How to do
that? by obeying instructions! The good news is, life does come with
instructions and that is why God gave us His Word, the Bible! Focus on the
instructions and be willing to change. Listen, listen, listen!
"Listen to advice and
accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise."
"Stop listening to
instruction my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge."
Oh God
help us to be willing to read and obey your instructions!!!
