Daily Proverb - Proverbs, Chapter 22

"A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold."

Honestly, what would you rather have, wealth with a bad name or a good name?  I know that many would choose wealth but they lack understanding.  A good name has great value! If you don't believe that, try getting a mortgage with a bad name.  Try getting a good job with a criminal record! How many friends, real friends does someone with a bad name have?  Have you ever had someone spread a nasty rumor about you?  How did you react?  If you were upset, good because you are concerned about your good name!

"Humility and the fear of the Lord bring wealth and honor and life."

There it is, true riches that come from a willingness to fear God and be humble.  In other words, don't think too highly of yourself!  Know that God has a plan and it is best.  Go before the Lord and be willing to learn and change.   Deuteronomy 8:18 tells us  "But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth."  Proverbs 10:22 says  "The blessing of the Lord brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it."  True wealth comes from God and God does not add trouble to it. You will know it is from God because it is without sorrow!  Look around you and you will see that there are those who appear to have it all, but do they have trouble added to their wealth?  Fear God and be humble!
